Process Description

  • Air compressors -- The air will be compressed by it until O.5MPa-O.7MPa
  • Pre-cooling unit -- The air will be pre-cooled by this unit untiI 5°C-1 O°C, and water shall be separated from the air.
  • Purification -- The residual water, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon will be separated from the air in this purifier.
  • Air expansion -- The air will be expanded in this expander and produces the cold for the process.
  • Air Cooling -- The air will be cooled by the counter-flowing gaseous oxygen ,gaseous nitrogen and waste nitrogen in the main heat exchanger of the rectification column until liquefing temperature of the air.
  • After-cooling -- The liquid air and liquid nitrogen are after-cooled by the gaseous nitrogen before their being throttled.
  • Rectification -- The air is rectified and separated in the rectification column.Thus the product gaseous nitrogen will be gained from the top of upper column and the product gaseous oxygen will be gained at the bottom of upper column.

  • For cylinder filling we have to add a oxygen filling compressor in the pipeline to compress the oxygen/nitrogen coming out of the cold box at .5 t0 15 mpa as required by the process.
  • For pipeline supply for steel plants the oxygen pressure coming out of the cold box has to be raised from 0.04 mpa to 0.15 to 0.3 mpa depend if we have to store in a oxygen gas buffer tank.
  • KDON plant is very suitable for steel plants where oxygen gas is required at 10 to 15 bar.
  • KDON means OXYGEN GAS + NITROGEN GAS.
  • Nitrogen gas is a by product in this plant and is available simultaneously together with the oxygen.

  • Note : the pure Nitrogen coming out of the cold box can be directly filled in a gas tank , STANDARD OUTPUT PRESSURE IS 0.5 MPA.
  • Standard gas nitrogen pressure is 0.5mpa but can be increased to 0.9mpa for pipeine supply without adding an external nitrogen compressor.
  • KDN means nitrogen gas output only .Y means liquid output.
  • Liquid nitrogen output can be designed as per specific buyer requirements to provide backup liquid nitrogen stored in a liquid nitrogen tank.
